Lottie Wright 

Age- 20
Occupation- Student

Lottie is one of my good friend from school and now she is in Newcastle University.

She uses the electronic timer all the time before she goes for night outs because she does not want to have any fire accidents from her hair products or laptop charger. Her family also uses it at home because they do not want to make any electrical pollutions.

                  





                             


Isobel Beard 

Age- 19
Occupation- Student

Issy is also one of my my friend from school and now she is studying in University of Leicester.

Her student accommodation also have an electronic timer but it is in the kitchen, she always switch it on when she is in there for safety reasons. There are some speakers, a toasty machine and a toaster in the plugs so she has always been really careful about these and making sure there won't be any fire                                       issues.

James Wedgwood 

Age- 20
Occupation- Student

James is a second year student in Northumbria and he has a flat with his friends.

Being a student needs his money which means he needs to be extremely certain about spending money on the things he needs. But he says that in second year when you rent a flat, the most annoying thing is the bills which can cost them a lot of money. Then he start using a portable electronic timer                                             in his room which can save him a awful lot of money and he is quite lazy                                                 sometimes when he can not be bother to switch the plugs off.

Interaction investigation

 

I have found this interaction design in my student accommodation and it is a electronic timer. Which does what you think it does!

 

Simply you just have turn the power on and the red lights will immediately be glowing. 

 

You can then press the BIG button to switch it on which will look like this....

 

This is what happen when you press that BIG button which shows you after 30 minutes your plug will switched off automatically.

When you hold the big button, you can now change the timer to 15minutes, 30minutes, 1hour & 2hours. 

Conclusion: 

What I like about this design is that it's simple to use, very useful for people who have bad memories and forget about turning off the electricity before going out/going to bed...etcetera. When you switch this off, this can save yourself some money and also saving the WORLD.
