Personae Usage

PERSONAL USAGE!

After using the Northumbria Intranet myself i came across quite a few different problems.

Blackboard

With blackboard i encountered quite a few flaws that i think could be fixed. The layout of
the home page is confusing and cluttered; there isn't really any structure to the way its
layer out. Trying to navigate through the site is a bit of a struggle if you haven’t been on it
before. I set myself a task to find a new piece of work that had recently been put on the
site; On doing so i found there was no real clear path on where to go to find the
information, it was a bit hit and miss. i had to click on more than one link before i stumbled
upon the right one to find the work i was looking for. MyNorthumbria was a lot easier to
navigate, with the very basic layout, and the minimal customisation. the biggest problem
that i encountered was that i couldn't access all the links with my browser (Google
Chrome). The system just all in a lll seems a bit outdated due to the aesthetics of the site.

NORA

NORA is by far the best out of the Intranet systems i have used, it is simple and easy to
use. It is very clear what you need to do and to search for a book, to navigate around the
website was easy, and i didn't get stuck anywhere.

EMAIL

With the email service is run by windows outlook, so is a very smooth experience, the only
problem i came across is the logging in process through the Northumbria website.

Conclusion

I think it would be beneficial for all these services to be all in one package rather than
being individual. It takes to much time to log in every time to each website on their own.
Being all in one place would help the students to find work and navigate through emails
easily and quickly.

Conclusion Project 2

CONCLUSION TO RESULTS
After studying the results what was found is that there are regular problems happening to
different students. There is an obvious problem with the intranet systems layouts, the
majority of the students say it is difficult to navigate the sites. They all would like an easier
way to access their information via mobile phone. They would like a simple but more
updated layout, so its easy to find work/important information. Having the systems all on
separate sites makes it difficult to keep up with information they need to keep under
control, so having it all in one place would be beneficial.

Personae- QR code

Park

 Name: Tom Shaw
 Age: 17
 Occupation: Student

Tom goes to the park quite a lot in his spare time when he isn’t at college for some fresh air, but sometimes he does feel lonely because the park can be quite quiet. So he uses his iPod or iPhone to scan the QR code and listen to the local radios which usually have music on. He says this app is perfect for wherever you go and the good things about this app are easy to use and you could choose all sort of music eg. chill music when you want some quiet time in the park and just relax, club music when you are going for a run and even chart music.

Metro

Name: Andrew Baker
Age: 30
Occupation: Businessman

Andrew uses the metro every morning to go to work in town centre, he is always stressful and tired in the morning and the metro does not really help when it’s all busy. Before he gets into the metro, he scans the QR code for classical music and “it’s easy and quick.”

Town Centre

Sarah is a university student, usually she goes to town with a few friends on the weekends but sometimes when they are busy and she needs to do some food shopping, she wants to listen to music but she is fed up with her music playlist. So now everytime when she goes to town on her own, she uses her phone and scan the QR code to listen the updated music and chooses her favourite DJ on different radio stations.

Gym

Abby describes herself “easily distracted”, when she goes to the gym she hates noises in the environment and she loves listen to music and keep up the beats. She doesn’t like buying her own music because she wants to save some money for night outs. All Abby does in the gym is uses her iPod and scan the QR code and she is sorted. “The QR code is only in the changing room where everyone needs to go before they work out, so we don’t waste on anytime and try finding it.” She also said: “One of my favourite DJ Avicii is also on the list and I love this app.”

Tangible Interactive Design

Here is the look of the wallpaper and the QR Code.

When you Scan the QR code in, it will take you to the radio station you've picked.

This is just to show you could find it at other environments.
